On Sunday afternoon, May 4 we stopped at the Super Stop & Wash to fuel our car. We inserted our credit credit card into the pump and it was authorized as we were able to pump gas. We then left. Shortly afterwards, we were contacted by the Makato Police and told that we drove away without paying for our gasoline. We were driving a rental car, and the police tracked us down through Enterprise Rentacar. We then had to return to the station, go through the embarrassment of explaining to the police officer that we not thieves as alleged by the station operator. We discovered that the error was on the part of the station. The attendant saw my wife insert our credit card, and somehow authorized the pump from inside. The error on this part was the station that accused us of theft. I followed up with management, and frankly they claimed they weren't even informed of it. Although the officer told us that this wasn't the first time this sort of thing has occured at this particular establishment. Bottom line: We were accused of theft. We are law abiding citizens, and the last thing we'd ever think of doing was stealing five bucks worth of gas. But it was embarrassing and inconvenient to us. The station has not apologized, or made any real effort to say they were sorry. We request that this incident be reported on their record, and to any and all agencies the BBB is associated with in the State of Minnesota. Brian and Ronda Olson Highlands Ranch CO (Less) |
